Hackley Emails Prove to be Useful

Hackley Student emails have revolutionized the way students and faculty are able to communicate.

Student emails allow students to separate their personal accounts from their schoolwork accounts. “When you’re weaving through your personal emails to find one that a teacher sent you, it gets tiring,” said junior Cate Goldsmith. The new accounts help students separate their personal life from their work life, which keeps students more organized.

Student emails are also helpful for teachers looking to contact students. By being able to contact everyone on a single platform, teachers can be assured students are receiving the messages on an active email account in an efficient manner.

“Before, I would never know what email teachers were sending their messages to,” said sophomore Emma Fetner. “But now, I know there’s only one go to place, where all my school related emails are.”

Student emails are especially useful for juniors and seniors as they begin to contact colleges. “When you contact a prospective school, you want to look as professional as possible,” said senior Annie Berning. “Having a student email helps you achieve that because it states your school and overall just looks really professional.”

The new emails have not only provided students with a new email address, but also has allowed both students and teacher to take advantage of the many features Google Mail has to offer.

Google Mail’s ‘Drive’ is essentially a flash drive on your email. It allows for students to upload both documents and media, and share them with classmates and teachers.

“Last year, my biology teacher uploaded a review video for a test we had on Google drive. She was easily able to share it with the entire class,” said senior Katie Mykrantz, “It was productive; she didn’t have to do that much work, yet it helped us tremendously.” Aside from the drive, Google Mail has other features such as the calendar and sites.

“I like to use the calendar sometimes to write down when I have tests or quizzes, so then I can just quickly log on to get an overview of my schedule,” says junior Andrea McCree.

Student emails are one of the many positive initiatives the Hackley administration has used involving technology in order to improve student life.
