Wrestling: Demetra Yancopoulos

A former soccer and Judo player, Demetra has proved herself a key member of the Hackley Wrestling team and is excited to see what accomplishments she is able to achieve as an upperclassmen on the team. Despite a devastating ACL tear last year, Demetra made it to the freestyle nationals in North Dakota and completed her season as an All-American. This year she hopes to qualify for the Boys’ High School Prep Nationals. Of her season goals she said, “Honestly, this year my only true goal is to get better. No matter my results,  I know that if I come out of the season feeling that I’ve worked hard and I’ve pushed my limits and made myself better.” As she practices both on the Hackley team and GPS Wrestling and continues to be a very dedicated athlete, she is excited for the season to come.
