December 16, 2014
When winter comes around, we all know what season it really is. This winter, holiday shopping has already gone into high gear with consumers looking for the best bargains on presents. This guide is jam-packed with gifts for everyone from your youngest sibling to that aunt that’s a little quirky.
Under $20
There are plenty of less expensive gift options for a friend or relative. If the recipient is a girl, a classic option would be a dark nail polish or makeup palette. Unisex gifts, such as a warm pair of wool socks or a nice mug with tea or hot chocolate mix, are great for the cold, winter weather. A flat cap is a great gift as it can be easily personalized with a sports team or location that the recipient admires. Most athletes would enjoy sports equipment specific to their favorite sport, for example a basketball or soccer ball. Some gifts that can be personalized could be a phone case, a book, or even an iTunes gift card.
Under $50
If you’re looking for a slightly more expensive gift, there are many options. A scented candle is a formal and warm gift for anyone. Jo Malone has an amazing variety of different sized scented candles. Cold weather gear such as gloves, infinity scarves, and patterned scarves can be simple, yet trendy gifts. J.Crew sells a variety of these types of cold weather accessories at a reasonable price. Other accessories such as belts are a great idea for a holiday gift. Sophomore Shayan Ahmad said “Belts are definitely a nice gift that I would enjoy receiving.” Bracelets under $50 can be found at store such as Madewell and Urban Outfitters.
$100 and Up
In the more expensive price range, a common, satisfying gift would be electronics such as the iPhone 6 or the iPad Air 2. These Apple products are great for anyone who is looking to become more efficient for their New Year’s resolution. For anyone looking to improve their game, a pair of basketball shoes can be a great present. There is a huge range of shoes from Nike to Adidas that one can choose from. Other gratifying gifts are tickets to Broadway shows or to games of their favorite sport or team. For the die-hard fan, a jersey to represent their most valued player would create the ultimate sports present.
