Coach Edwin Delgado Joins Strength and Conditioning Department

Coach Edwin is helping a young baseball player before he starts practice. He spends some of his time working at GameOn13 which is a baseball and softball facility located near Tarrytown.

A new strength coach, who has a great deal of experience, is ready to help train Hackley student-athletes. Edwin Delgado is the new strength coach at Hackley and works alongside Lisa Pavarini in the weight room at the Johnson Center.

Coach Edwin, first introduced to baseball at age three, carried the sport with him throughout his time in high school at Saunders High School in Yonkers, New York, and all the way until college. Coach Edwin attended Monroe College in New Rochelle, NY where he received his Associate’s Degree in Sports Management. Then, he studied business analytics at Cleary University in Howell, MI, and transferred to Concordia College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He finally went to St. John’s University in Queens NY, where he completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Management.

Coach Edwin became interested in strength training in college.

“Believe it or not, the first time I ever lifted a weight for training was in my freshman year of college,” Edwin said.”  “Once I started to realize my progress and the great impact working out had on my overall confidence, I fell in love with the science behind it all.”

Following his time out of college, Coach Edwin began working at a private baseball facility called GameOn13 located nearby in Elmsford, New York. His responsibilities ranged from strength and conditioning to baseball and softball lessons. He continues to work there, where he holds lessons when time allows.

Coach Edwin was a part of a Strength and Conditioning Internship at Iona University for a year before he was given the opportunity to be a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for St. John’s University.

With only a couple of weeks under Coach Edwin’s belt as a Hackley Strength and Conditioning coach, he is enjoying his time here.

“So far I am not exaggerating when I say I truly love being part of the Hackley team,” he said. The atmosphere feels like home and everyone is very respectful and extremely welcoming.”

Coach Edwin plans to bring new ideas, cultures, and philosophies to the weight room and to ensure that everyone feels the same welcoming experience while being able to navigate the weight room to their advantage. He has so much knowledge and experience through surrounding himself with respectable personnel and he wants to spread what he has learned.

His goals consist of making student-athletes more comfortable coming down to the weight room and improving in whatever aspects they desire.

“If you want to feel more confident, healthier, more athletic, stronger, quicker, come down to the weight room and let’s chat, I am happy to help any individual or any full team with a program based on their training desires,” Edwin said. “I look forward to continuing to mold in with everyone as we work together to keep the atmosphere welcoming and amazing for everyone on board”.
