A blazing vibrant sky enveloped in arid heat slowly shifts to colorful streets of red-orange-and yellow hues. Shades fade on hills topped with chills and pristine white, to a rejuvenating transformation of warmth and dew. This is the end of a year, gradually blooming into another. One may even think of it as a perpetual machine, with well-oiled gears slowly gathering rust, continuing a start-and-repeat mechanism.
But after a year filled with fun, laughter, and sadness, let’s look back at 2023 as a lesson for our unsuspecting, future selves. A combination of upperclassmen have already started to set their goals, where they wrote personal New Year resolutions for 2024.

As you can see, some resolutions, such as drinking enough water and reading books, could easily be a daily routine for many. On the other hand, resolutions to marry or to understand the importance of mathematics are, although amusing, likely to be whimsical promises, especially as high school students. Nevertheless, it may be these lofty, silly goals that help us to move forward.
