Girls Basketball
The Girls Varsity Basketball team played a total of 12 games and ended the regular season with a 4-8 record, placing 5th in the Ivy League. They entered NYSAIS in the C bracket as the 4th seed in the tournament. They played against Chapin in the first round and fought a very hard game. They cut it close in the final moments, but ultimately ended with a 55-59 loss.
Boys Basketball
The Boys Varsity Basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a record of 8-4 in the Ivy League, finishing in second place. A highlight of their season was a remarkable win over Briarcliff High School at the Westchester County Center during the William Plunkett Jr. Christmas Classic, where sophomore Jelani Middleton was named MVP. In one of the last home games against Horace Mann, senior Jack Perlman scored 36 points in the third quarter, reaching 1000 career points. He is the ninth person in Hackley history to achieve this. The team entered the NYSAIS tournament as the sixth seed, where they lost against Stony Brook 44-49 in the first round.
Wrestling
The wrestling team ended the season with nine wins and eleven losses. The team finished third in the Ivy League, later placing second in the NYSAIS tournament. Junior Justin D’Alessio, senior Remy Becker, senior Will Belleville, and junior Emmanuel Henderson all made the All-Ivy Team. Justin D’Alessio was the only team member to qualify for the New York State Championship. Justin finished with 0-2, but both matches were down to the wire.
Fencing
This season, the Hackley Boys Fencing secured the New York State Championship, while the Hackley Men’s Saber team also won the team state title. Individually, Junior Inkosi Brou (captain) was named the 2025 NYSAIS Champion in Men’s Saber, reclaiming the title he had previously won in 2023.
Winter Track
Both the Boys and Girls Indoor Track and Field teams had a great season. There were two Ivy Champions: sophomore Caitlin Morrow in the girls’ 1k and Junior Ari Spiegel in the girls’ weight throw. At NYSAIS, the boys’ team had three scoring athletes: Senior Jimmy Mulomani in the Shot Put and Ivy Champion in the Weight Throw, senior Fox Quattrone in the 1000m, and junior Henry Prescott in the 1600m. On the girls’ side, scoring athletes included Caitlin Morrow and junior Sophie Frazier in the 1000m, junior Macey McLane in the 3000m, freshman Katie Yalmokas in the long jump, senior Maggie Yalmokas and junior Ari Spiegel in the shot put, with Maggie being named champion. Ari Spiegel, junior Zara Nahim, and Maggie Yalmokas won the girls’ weight throw. Jimmy, Caitlin, and Ari competed at the New York State Championship for Track (FEDS).
Squash
The Girls Varsity Squash team finished first in the Ivy League this season and then advanced to Nationals. The team made NYSAIS and lost the second round to Brearley. The boys’ team finished second in NYSAIS, losing to Rye Country Day in the finals.
Swimming
The Hackley Varsity Swim Team had a great season with strong performances from both the girls’ and boys’ teams. The boys placed high in the Ivy League, with a standout race including a first-place finish. On the girls’ side, the team went undefeated in their season (8-0) and secured the Ivy League Championship. The girls’ 400 free relay team, with sophomore Loly Frey, freshman Heidi Chen, junior Ella Chen, and sophomore Kate Masters, broke both the Hackley school record and the Ivy League Record by two seconds.
