Dress Code at Hackley can be bland, but Spirit Week brightens everyone’s day and mood.
Every week leading up to the Sting is Spirit week — a time when the school comes together in anticipation of the Sting. The Community Council creates different themes for each day of the week, building up to a blackout for Spring Sting on Friday.
With Monday being a holiday, Spirit Week kicked off on Tuesday with an Earth Day theme. Students wore blue and green to show their love for the planet.
Wednesday was Pajama Day, a favorite among students. Many students came to school in comfortable flannel pajama pants. Juniors Rodrigo Severin, Will Linnett, and Riyaan Ratliff wore pajama pants in support of Pajama Day.
“I love wearing pajamas to school for spirit week. It is the one time we get to be comfortable and still show our school spirit,” said Rodrigo.
Thursday was Funny T-Shirt Day. T-shirts featured everything from a funny sentence or saying to a cartoon character.
The week ended on a high note with a school-wide blackout for the annual Spring Sting. Students and teachers wore black to show their school spirit. Some athletes wore their jerseys to represent their teams, adding to the excitement.
“It was a lot of fun making the themes and dress-ups for Spirit Week. It was cool to see how far some people took the themes,” said freshman Pia Severin, a member of the Community Council.
The week not only brought out the creativity and spirit of the student body but also brought about a sense of community. Spirit Week is always a highlight of the year, leading up to one of the most anticipated days at Hackley: The Sting.
