Katrina Project Instills Powerful Image of Hope through Play and Music

By Benjy Renton, Online Editor

On Thursday, March 10, Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12, the Upper School actors performed The Katrina Project in the PAC. With a cast and crew of over 20 members, the production was supplemented by a live jazz band, the first of its kind at any Hackley performance. Widely enjoyed by all throughout its three performances, The Katrina Project featured excerpts of live interviews from survivors of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In his “Director’s Notes,” Director Willie Teacher realized that “In one fell swoop we could: 1. educate our students on a major historical event; 2. instill in our students the power of art and its potential impact on a community; and 3. we could come together as a community and create a beautiful, life-changing event.”
