Nick Imhof, the Athletic Trainer at Hackley, has made a lasting impact throughout the past three years, inspiring both student athletes and coaches alike. He began his journey to become an athletic trainer in high school where he immediately fell in love with sports, especially hockey, soccer, and baseball, the sports in which he participated. From there, he combined his athletic prowess with his passion for medicine, leading him to pursue a career in sports medicine. Ultimately, he earned a degree in athletic training, obtaining a CPR/AED for professional rescuers and health providers, and officially became New York State-certified to practice sports medicine.

After being offered a position at Hackley, Mr. Imhof chose the school based on its encouraging approach to athletics. When asked why Hackley’s athletics program had stood out to him, Mr. Imhof responded, “Hackley encourages students to constantly try new sports…I think that it’s important for students to step outside their comfort zone [as] that makes them more well-rounded students and people.”

Throughout Mr. Imhof’s day, he meticulously prepares for any emergency that could arise. He watches over both Middle and Upper School practices, and acts as the first response for any on-field emergencies. When asked about her time spent with Mr. Imhof when injured, sophomore and athlete Katy Robertson explained, “Not only does he treat any injury that comes through the door, his encouraging humor always puts a smile on my face.”

Mr. Imhof encourages any student interested in sports medicine to reach out to either him or Mr. Sawyer, as he believes a profession in sports medicine could prove to be the perfect fit for any student athlete.
