Spring Sting brings home victories for sports teams

Hackley’s 6th annual Spring Sting brought Lower, Middle and Upper School students, faculty and staff together, featuring games from the Boys’ Varsity Tennis, Softball, Baseball, Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse and Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse teams. Check out The Dial’s coverage from the day below.

The girls celebrate after a big win over Maria Regina. The team created shirts to surprise their coach, Margaret Scarcella, who is a five-year cancer survivor. The girls currently have an 11-5 record.

The boys basketball team celebrates after a hard-fought win vs Packer Collegiate over winter break. The boys jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Sophomore Jelani Middleton led the team in scoring with 28 points.

Senior captain William Crainer and Junior Hudson Kelley come to the finish line of the 3200. In their first meet, they both qualified for NYSAIS.

Abbey Schiller has a strong desire to play softball for four more years after high school. Hackley’s impressive sports programs have allowed many students to continue their athletic careers in college. There are currently fifty-one Hackley graduates who are playing at the collegiate level.

Junior Isabelle Thomas darts towards the goal while eyeing an approaching Holy Child defender. Girls’ Lacrosse advanced to the NYSAIS championship after defeating Holy Child 12-8 in the semifinal of the NYSAIS tournament. The team will take on Rye Country Day on Wednesday, 23 May 2018 to determine the victor of the NYSAIS Girls Lacrosse championship.
