Hackley’s Cross Country and Field Hockey teams competed in the NYSAIS tournament on Sunday, November 6. In the morning, the Cross Country team ran in the NYSAIS Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. The girls’ team placed 3rd out of18 teams and while the boys’ team placed 4th out of 19 teams. Both JV teams also had a strong showing, placing 1st and 4th for boys and girls respectively. Sophomore Olivia Curran won her race with a time of 20:12 for a 5k, earning her a spot in the Federation meet in two weeks.

Later in the day, Hackley faced Rye Country Day in the NYSAIS finals for Field Hockey. With a scoreless game at halftime, the Hornets came out flying with a quick goal to start the second half. However, Rye Country Day matched their goal only a minute later, and proceeded to do the score again right after the Hornets’ Karina Bridger had her second goal of the game. Going into overtime, the game was tied 2-2, but RCDS scored halfway through to win the game 3-2. Congratulations to both teams on a great season!
