Why would you be a good candidate for this position?

I represent the students and teachers of the Hackley community. I know how to control a room, as well as listen to others.

  • I have been class agent before and know how Council works.
  • I know people management and how to divide up work and get stuff done.
  • I am proven president of two high school startup companies worth over $60 thousand in 12 weeks from small investments of $2 becoming worth $350.
  • I understand the basis of people and the need for change in the status quo. I know what it means to be a part of a “familia” I belong to many with lots of brothers and sisters. Yes, the Hackley familia.
  • I have the passion and willpower to actually create change in the Hackley community, unlike many of my predecessors. I believe we need someone with the drive to progress Council from a small indecisive vehicle, to the student government it should be. I have what it takes to get us there, and will vow that if I am elected every club will get attention as well as Council becoming more instrumental in the structure of the school.
  • I understand that Council represents both teachers and students and the Hackley community as a whole.

What have you done for the Hackley Community?

  1. I was class agent last year for 4 months.
  2. I helped found and run clubs like Spartan Club, Humans of Hackley, along with judging and facilitating Middle school debate teams.
  3. Don’t ask what have I but what will I do, and that is all for the community.

What are your goals if elected?

  1. Increase Council power
  2. Create and work as a student government rather than just making 2 events
  3. Cooperative review of current rules with all three branches
  4. Retain Hackley’s strong community
  5. Have the best year ever as a community!!

Why would you be a good candidate for this position?

Having been both on and off Council, I like to think I would be able to have a realistic outlook on what council can achieve while also bringing new and innovative ideas to the table. I think having those two mindsets is what will allow Community Council to have events better than ever before, and allow us to have a great year. I have both the experience necessary and the fresh mindset to bring about great change. I also have the dedication necessary, having an excellent attendance record on Council in addition to having run for this office previously.

What have you done for the Hackley Community?

When on council my freshman year, I helped come up with and plan many events, such as the first Snowball and Manhunt. When setting up events such as those, I made a habit of arriving early and leaving late, so I could contribute as much as possible. I also helped Community Council generate much needed funds by participating in concession stands.

I also contribute to the community through extracurriculars. Last year, several debaters including myself helped set up, organize, and generally made things run smoothly with a national middle school debate, where a Hackley team won first place. This year, in addition to debating myself, I have helped judge in many novice and JV tournaments. I have also been a part of several teams, including Cross Country and Track, and even being a captain of the Fencing team, helping underclassmen acclimate to the dedicated high school teams. I am also the co captain of one of Hackley’s political clubs, where we talk about the elections and politics in general.

What are your goals if elected?

On council I hope to both build off of old events and create new ones, and if necessary eliminate any events that have been unsuccessful in making students happy, or fix them so that they do. Hopefully, with my assistance, events such as the Snowball and Spirit Week can be even more successful than before. Obviously, one of the only ways we can hold these greater events and new events is by having the money to do so, and so I hope to zealously use concession stands to generate said money, in addition to continuing the selling of Hive clothing. Having enough money allows us to explore new options for events that were once thought impossible, allowing us to have some of the best events seen yet.

Why would you be a good candidate for this position?

I think I would be a good candidate for this position because I care about Hackley’s community. I am a determined and hardworking individual, and I love to collaborate with others to reach a common goal. When I first came to Hackley School, I was shy and reserved. Over the years Hackley has shaped me into an outgoing leader. Recently, my work with the Peer Advisory program and Peer Tutoring program has shown me that I love to work with others. I think that I can do an amazing job leading the student body through organizing spirit week, community time assemblies, and school events like movie nights and the winter dance. Hackley has helped me grow immensely and I would like to share that with others in our community. I believe that through implementing my friendly nature and outspoken personality I can help other speak up about how they would like to improve the community in the future.

What have you done for the Hackley Community?

Within Hackley’s community I try to participate in as many clubs and events as possible. I have been an active member of the Soccer, Squash, and Track teams. I participate in the Acting performances and try my best to attend other sports games and performances, like Coffeehouse. I try to help the freshmen feel comfortable in Hackley’s community through Peer Tutoring and Peer Advisory. I feel as though through these activities I have influenced a collaborative and supportive atmosphere at Hackley.

What are your goals if elected?

If elected my main goal is to make Community Council more representative of the student body. My hope is to create many online surveys to account for every person’s opinion. I would like to personally talk with many students and hear what they would like to see in the upcoming school year. Some of my more specific goals include keeping Hackley a spirited and supportive community by influencing more attendance to athletic and artistic events. I would also like to introduce a weekly email to update students on the exciting events Hackley has to offer during each week. I though this email would encourage attendance to different school events. I would overall like to make Community Council more representative and responsive to the student body.
