Indoor Track and Field Tunes Up at Second Ivy League Meet

New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory, New York – On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, Hackley’s Boys’ and Girls’ Indoor Track and Field team traveled to New York for the second Ivy League Meet of the season. The team dominated the meet, either ending top three in their event or breaking their own personal records. Senior Gabriella Zak placed first in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds and first in the triple jump with a personal best of 34 feet and three-fourths of an inch. Senior Sabina Thomas had a great 55m dash, placing first with a time of 7.65 seconds, beating the second place finisher by 0.12 seconds. Junior Amin Mustefa had another amazing Ivy Meet by placing first in both the 5m dash and triple jump, beating the second place finisher in the 55m dash by a mere 0.01 seconds with a time of 7.22 seconds and jumping a personal best of 40 feet and one and three-fourth inches in the triple jump. Sophomore Javon Coleman placed first in the 55m hurdles with a personal best of 8.95 seconds and second in the long jump, reaching 16 feet and seven and three-fourth inches. Junior Akash Samad ran the 1000m in 3:02, beating his personal best and placing 13th overall. Things are looking up for Hackley’s Indoor Track team despite its injured runners. The third Ivy League Meet will be after Winter Break on January 6, 2016.
