While time travel is not possible, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City has come pretty close. Its latest exhibit, “From the Collection 1960-1969,” enables visitors to experience the 1960s. Unearthing pieces from various curatorial departments and the museum’s archives, the exhibit contains a large spectrum of pieces. The exhibit’s galleries are arranged chronologically to enable the viewer to experience the artistic and cultural development of the decade.

In the first gallery, a gleaming 1961 Jaguar dominates the room, surrounded by pieces of artwork including a sizable sculpture made of soiled canvas from a conveyor belt.

One of the most dynamic galleries is 1964, a room featuring a brightly-colored mural covering three walls and depicting abstract and realistic imagery.

The 1967 gallery is also particularly engaging; it features a whole wall of fluorescent concert announcements and another wall displaying a large video of swirling abstract patterns and bright colors. The gallery also includes a large array of abstract and colorful furniture from the year, as well as real vinyl covers by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The 1960-1969 exhibit is currently running until March 12, 2017.
