The Resurgence of Pokemon Go in 11th grade

In 2016, Pokemon GO was released in app stores and soon became the most popular game of the year. Kids would be on their phones walking around, going into the city, and even taking the longer route home for the sole purpose of catching a Pokemon. However, soon after the release, the number of players quickly decreased and the game faded out of the limelight. .
Surprisingly since the start of the new school year, juniors have been obsessed with Pokemon Go. During car rides to school, free periods, and even in classes students have been glued to their screen catching pokemon. This sudden resurgence has brought many to wonder why.
“I honestly don’t know why it’s so addicting, but I can’t stop playing during my free time and I find it so fun,” Junior James Goldman said.
“There really is no purpose to the game other than catching random pokemon, you can’t really beat the game or lose, but I always find myself playing.” Junior Ber Bennett explained.
Currently, the majority of people who play are boys; however, with more and more people starting to play the possibilities for who plays are endless. And the question everyone is asking is, “will this resurgence continue or will it be another short-lived phase?”
